  • What can i do to the minipulse to get maximum depth for gold?

Hey guys have my minipulse kit arriving soon from silverdog. Just wondering whats the best way to get maximum depth for gold nuggets? I know i can get issues with ground noise aswel. Does bigger coil mean bigger depth or is there a point where that stops?

Yes bigger coils will get you deeper at the cost of loosing smaller targets just like a VLF detector would do. Build a regular Bunch wound coil to get it working and then play with a Fast (Low Capacitance) Basket coil.

As per the Build Document the coil should be "The coil inductance should be between 300uH and 500uH." Shoot for 300uH area for your coil. Lower Inductance = Faster damping of your fly back = Faster Coil... With a Basket Weave Coil (Lower Coil Capacitance) = Faster Coil . Using Graphite Shielding you may be able to get down below the 10uS Sample Delay. Sampling this fast can exaggerate ground induced noise. At super fast sampling times the Ground is still singing, errr producing Eddy Currents that are not a problem with longer delays letting them settle down. But Eaaaaa, Live with it. Ever Heard the Nasty Noises a Mine lab makes ??? LOL

Not Built the Mini as of yet but others have and this is the route some took. This is the Route I'm taking when I get around to building one. Just finished a Barracuda.

Very much appreciate your input . Only detector i have atm is a minelab xt18000 (vlf). Yes I know ground noise . Would you happen to know if changing pulse timing etc will help with deeper nuggets? I use my vlf for surface small stuff as it can run 3 different frequencies so im hoping to try get this to search the deeper big stuff. Im trying to find info on pulse frequencies, timing, delay etc for deep nugget gold but cant seem to find it . Was hoping someone can guide me to what changes i can make to suit deeper nuggets. Obviously more can be done then just bigger coil

I looked at that and looks good to copy. When they said they swapped u5 ne5532 for lm4562 was that both or just 1?

There is only one 5532, it is split on the drawing. The 4562 is a good choice or option to switch to. little better sensitivity but can cause more noise when using delay at low settings of anything below 7 us.

With the mods used in KRinAZ's thread you will have good nugget sensitivity with the right coil. Try a 3dss in 300uh using Teflon or litz wire, bundle wound just aren't as fast or sensitive. The coil is what will make you or break you.

You can get around 5 inches on a 1 gram nugget with these mods and a good coil.
