  • Surf p.i coil on minipulse. Is it ok to use for first tests?

Back again sorry. I ordered a pre built surf p.i type detector that came of ebay and it came with a mono 8 inch coil. Im unsure of specs except it reads 1.4 ohms. Is it ok to connect this up to my minipulse? I have built my minipulse but am yet to test it so i was going to use this coil to test it out. Is the resistor thats supplied with the minipulse kit for the coil ok to use with the 1.4 ohm coil?

Actually now re reading the pdf does it actually require a resistor for testing?

How have you managed to get to the point where you've built the MPP, but you don't yet have a coil? Did you not read the part in the Build Document where it says:

"If you go through the following steps carefully, and in order, you will have a greater chance of ending up with a detector that actually works. Please do not proceed to the next step until you have solved any problems encountered in the current step. If you get stuck at any stage during the build, then seek help in the Geotech forums before moving on. Do not simply populate the whole board; discover it doesn't work (which will be the most likely result) and then post in the forums: “I've built the Minipulse Plus, and it's not working. What's wrong?” .... as you will receive little sympathy from other Geotech members.
      To reiterate:
      Please follow the instructions step-by-step.
      "

Because it was missing some capacitors out of the kit so i built it anyways. Tried it out today with that coil and it worked lol
