Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd share some results from my recently completed mpp rev e.
Having no previous experience and very much a beginner with circuits I found this build challenging and at sometimes very frustrating, how ever I managed to complete a working mpp rev e with only a few errors and blown components along the way.
The finished detector including coil weighs only 1.4kg thanks to a light weight carbon fiber housing which I have connected to rx lead and from what results I have I believe it works as a half decent Sheild.
The 10 inch coil is wound from magnet wire I salvaged from a microwave. It has 3 strands not sure on wire size but they are very thin and 26 turns. All housed in a fully carbon fibre ring with supports aswell. I currently have it critically dammped at 1150 ohms although i know it may be the wrong value but I have yet to fully understand my PC base ossiliscope and there is just way too much noise in my area so I have no idea what signal I should be looking for However it works😀
Air test.. Sampling at 6us are the following results
Australian 50c coin --- 45-47cm
Australian 10c coin --- 35-37cm
Australian 2$ coin --- 33-35cm
Small gold chain --- 19-21cm
women's gold ring --- 33-35cm
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that these results aren't too bad. I played around making about a dozen coils in all sorts of designs but this one beats them all by quite alot,
anybody else getting these distances from a 10inch mono coil or something similar?.
Pictures below are of objects tested and finished detector.
