only two years too late but good job on your surface mount TGSL

    discrimination works really well

I'd love to do a SMD TGSL, you don't happen to have any extra PC boards around do you?

Found this old thread because I was researching a SMT Bandido board I got from Silverdog. Seemed a shame that such a good detector had got forgotten properly a lot a posts that day. Anyway contacted Silverdog via his website and got an email straight back saying he had a Bandido and thought he had the TGSL but would have to route it out.

Did not cost much and is of high quality.

Thought I would do the Bandido as people that have had one always regret selling it. Monte seems to be a bit of an expert on Tesoro detectors as he was a dealer and tested all of them in the field and still rates the Bandido ii umax against much newer Tasoros.

Could not find much info on the Bandido and most of the development of them seems to have been done on the md4u.ru website but even though Google translate does a good job something gets lost in the translation. At least two people on here have successfully completed the Bandido but the TGSL has been much more popular

Hi, the TGSL is simple to implement but they are two detectors are alike

Hmm I didn't know SilverDog sold a Bandito. I'd like to build one of those too!
I have the docs from a SMD Bandito if you need any info...

SMD is tough but makes for a much smaller board. I was looking at the Delta Pulse
and imagining the size box that will need!

Its going to be a learning curve for me. Have changed surface mount connecters before but never built anything using SMT

Take any info you have on the Bandido thanks even a parts list would be great as I can not read the gif's posted. Have a lay file but will have to find which program was used to make it

are these the best type of resistor and capacitor to use

Normally I would use metal film for resistors but SMD seem to use different technology or do I need to find some better ones

Have you seen this enclosure even though it's different it does give the feel of a Tesoro

Need to sort out which are the best IC's to use noticed some 4024 are only rated to 6V

                Already seen conflicting values

                C10, 13, 14, 18 = 5pF
                C16, 29 = 10nF

                vs

                C16 : 39pF
                C10 : 22pF
                C14 : 8.2 pF
                C13 : 10pF
                C18 : 22pF

both sets measured off the board

That box looks nice! I got the last Bandito PCB from SilverDog.
I rework surface mount components all day at work. I can give
you a few tips if you like.

I found I basically had the LAY file and 2 different schematics with
those values differing. The caps shouldn't be ceramic but there's no
choice if the pads are surface mount. Those caps you linked to are
0805 there is also 1206 check your board and get the ones that fit
or you'll have lots of problems.

I'll post some more info in a new thread here.
