while adjusting the coil correctly (nulling)
you should measure an AC voltage of under 10mV directly on RX coil
on the output of the amplifier next to rx coil the voltage should be 40-50 times higher

May be you need to check the electrical interference , perhaps your are trying to adjust the MD near a televison set o flourecents lights,sometimes inside at home are electrically noise. try to adjust outside at home.I was have truobles to adjust threshold in a surf pi and my problem was electrical interference,almost you can check if the coils in not near at the floor or are metals in subfloor. Sorry for my bad english, I hope this can help you.Regards
