  • TGS coil diference

    I made an account and I noticed that the media is about 20mH coils, who can tell me what is the difference between DD and the other, especially as Rx is the lowest value mH, Rx DD should not to be 6.1 mH ...? Thanks in advance, Best regardsClick image for larger version

    We tested TGS coil Tx and Rx 5.90 mH 6.10 mH and works great with 1 Euro 35cm

      I have one 11 inch dd original widescan tesoro coil with TX 5.57 mH and 23,4 Ohm, and RX (it could be center taped, or 2 coilwires to one rx end) each side 6,01 mH and 24,4 ohm. Dont know for wich model it was, have bought it on ebay. it is 5-pin coil.

        Cheers good information thanks for going to the trouble of measuring.

          Hmm That coil works on a stock Tesoro? I was wondering how to set the RX cap on a centertapped coil.
          I thought 6 mh per side might be a good choice.

          I have a 14.8 mh CT coil but it reads 4 mh per side
          and a 35 mh that reads 9 mh per side

          So a 25 mh should be around 6 mh per side.

            Is the only information I can find.

            Also the plastic housing is conductive

            Not much info on the net about the center tap Tesoro coils. I have had a good look as I want to build a Bandido II µMax that has the same feel as the original

              Wonder where you can buy those conductive coil housings?

              I have the winding data around here for those coils. It would give you some idea
              the number of windings to get 6.0 mh per side. You'd want to windbifilar so would
              need to coils of wire (to make it easier). They are not supposed to need shielding
              but a conductive housing would be nice to drain the accumulated charge off...

                Sorry, i think my coil was wrong connected. The second picture is that, what match´s to my coil. I have wrote my measurements in this picture. I have also drawn the wirecolores of the coil:
                1= red or orange
                2= blue
                3= violette
                4= grey
                5= blank wire (consists of two "shield´s" one around red and blue, the other around violette and grey)

                Don´t understand why is blue not connected at all?

                  Is each side of RX 6 mh or 1.48?

                  Funny they have a 5th wire and didn't use it. I thought they did use it on the CT coil.
                  With TX in the shield it can radiate out of the cable and into the RX. Maybe it was on
                  purpose to couple the TX and RX a bit?

                    2-1 and 5-1 measure the same

                    is 2-5 a short

                      4 and 3 is RX and so i have from pin 4 or 3 to centertab (blanc wire 5) 1.48 mH each.
                      My wirering was wrong, so that i thought pin 1 is centertab and from there to pin 2 is 6 mH and to Pin 5 also. I have cut the plug and found my mistake.

                      2-1 and 5-1 is nearly the same.
                      2-5 = 0.5 Ohm, 0 mH, so i think it is a short.

                      Here is a shematic with the wirecolors that match this from my coil. But this is concentric coil and i have dd.

                        Then you might see a short conector coil

                          Looks like pin 2 and 5 are both ground/shield but kept separate until the board ?

                            I think so. But pin 2 isn´t connected at all. Pin 5 is also the shielding of the wirebundles 1+2 and 3+4.
