i have made some coil calculations for alternativ coil

    original is TX 6mH 22nf 4,38kHz
    RX 6,5mH 14,7nf 5,149kHz Relation 4,38 / 5,149 is nearly 1,2 (5,28kHz would be ideal)

    replacement

    TX 2mH 680nf 4,316kHz
    RX 14mH 68nf 5,158kHz

less Resistance in TX - more power, and better inductance relation in RX results in stronger Signal

    or did i calculate wrong?

Sounds interesting. Do you think i could use a coil from a tesoro cibola with a tgsl with this modification?

The frequency of the Originals does not calculate from the L & C given.

        The replacement values do however.

          TX 6 mH 22 nF 13,853kHz
          RX 6,5 mH 14,7 nF 16,262kHz

I used LC circuit app from Google Play Store

ok calculated something wrong before, had failure in browser
              new calc
              original
              Tx 6mh 22nf 13,853 khz
              Rx 6,5mh 14,7nf 16,28 khz
              alternativ 1
              Tx 1mh 136nf (2*68nf) 13,647 khz
              Rx 14mh 6,8nf 16,312 khz
              alternativ 2
              Tx 1mh 150nf 12,995 khz
              Rx 14mh 8nf (4,7+3,3nf) 15,039 khz
              wetec.vrok.de/rechner
i think null voltage tuning of factory made coils can be achieved with additionel resistor values in series#
or by trimming the resistor on fet of TX driver

My parts arrived today and unfortunately the dimensions of the 4.7u caps are way to big (8.5 x 14 x 7.2mm).

Are there smaller 4.7u polyester capacitors?

Thank you kt315! The 5mm ones will fit. But I think I gonna Drill new holes for my big ones at the test Board and Connect the Pins at the back.
I will buy them for the other Boards. I hope my 100k Potentiometer will arrive soon.

can someone say something about the coil alternatives i caculated

as i know the normal 6/6,5mh coil has not the best Transformer relation

q-Faktor of TX can be improoved with 1mH (less turns, thicker wire, less capacitance -> better q Factor)

i remind also the pickup board for tgsl which provides the minelab musketeer Oszillator
so that is is passible tu use factory made coil like ts800 or ts1000, but i had not tested them in past

I made and tested both versions of IGSL (TGSL and Musk) and differencies was only sensational. No difference in depth, nor in disc... I used exactly the same former for both coils (13"). Both get 35cm for € in air and 30cm in light soil.

I do not remember if motivation of using different frontend was due to lack of interest in making own coils or to gain performance. Anyway you can use "musk" coils with modified Tx oscilator and another caps of Rx... thats all. otherwise devices are the same.
