not. you must use splitted by shield in 2 couples TX and RX. a cable with general shield but splitted by shield.
USB cable has one general shield for all wires.

Post a link to the one you use KT, Might be helpful in this case.

USB has only one shield, but works... Or you can use VGA cable, it has 5 shielded wires + 4 thinner cables in common shield.

IM pretty sure usb cable was used on the coil I have and I know that coil works.

Belden 8723 cable. That's the best. Although I used USB with USB connector for coil plug(I used what I had at the time) worked ok.
You must try as much as possible to standardize your hardware materials, so yo can move from project to project effortlessly.

Sure, my favorite trick - steal it from similar detector, where it already exist in this case IGSL. In TGSL complete schematics it is Resistor R44 2k2 (near U107a - LM358, from pin 6 to GND ). Take it out and place there 10k Potentiometer...

The TGSL doesn't have a pinpoint , how do we set the threshold with the pot?

You need to add for example this:

and some audio signal or VCO on bottom of image to get pinpoint on TGSL.

Threshold we discussed before is for classic disc channel. On one side you get smooth beeps and more "nuance" of sounds. On other side beeps are binary - more sensitive, but not informative. Hard to describe.

Looks complicated ?? perhaps id be better of simply trying to find all the info for the Bandito perhaps? or the IDX pro .

Not complicated, when I was able to make it on prototype board, anyone can.

I tried bandido pinpointer, but was not so well (may be my mistake...) as you can read here: http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...948#post237948

Perhaps making a little board for the tgsl would be a good exercise in my learning curve.
