What kind of coil u use and how much deep can u get i euro coin in air?i have concentric coil 25cm and can get 1 coin at 27 cm(weak signal)....how can i get much deeper changing chips?

try to build PI detector. you had got your first hard lesson now that VLFs do not give the depth. you have to go farther now.
just your hands will give you the new lessons (LOL). TGSL is just amputated version of TGS and does not has ALL-METAL mode.
you can a possibility to change chinese made chips on another chinese made chips, also your GF on another mom.
but any moom has just same vertical gap and never horizontal.

"Good board is already half the case" (i'm fully agree)
Metal Detector Tesoro Lobo DIY ONLY PCB 80*120mm 1pc. (GMT King Cobra 91*122mm. while it has NOTCH circuit part, on value like VLF DISC part)
Hello.
I present a board for self-manufacturing of a modified metal detector Tesoro Lobo Сlassic. Why this detector? Because this is a very well thought-out analog detector, with a quick response. In addition, lobo can be modified. I used a Detech S.E.F. coil, DD, for Tesoro Tejon, 4 pin. As a result, I got a device more sensitive than Tejon, and with greater depth than Lobo Сlassic. The sound indication of the battery discharge is replaced with the led indication.
The oscillator frequency of the device on the TX should be set at 17500Hz, the capacitor - in parallel with TX - 88-94nf. This capacitor is selected according to the maximum amplitude of TX (voltage AMPL - maximum amplitude). RX is nonresonant, the capacitor C5 is not used. The RX is set up by a capacitor C7, which can be from 4.7 to 10nf. I installed 6.9nf. The quality of the ground balance depends on the capacitor. Ideally, it is better to use a generator, and to equalize the frequency of RX 18100Hz (17500+600), for an accurate phase shift, but I did not do this, the result by eye made me quite satisfied.
Also based on this board, you can make an exact copy of Lobo klassic (20000Hz), or your own version with a resonant/nonresonant coil (17500Hz). You can make different coils yourself. For a larger capture, do DD, for a better discrimination - a circle. This is a great space for creativity, and not as complex a process as it might seem. It is possible to use coils Lobo, Tejon, Сibola, Vaquero (4 pins).
Please note:
The pinout of the transistors may differ, check the pinout and operability before installing. Use the chips of the original lobo, analogues use as a last resort.
Cases of potentiometers and toggle switches should be contacted on GND. The board can be checked after assembly by checking the voltage on the chips with respect to GND (+ 8V, -7.6V). If in the discrim mode there is a double signal, then change the TX or RX polarity.
When the power is first connected, set the current limit to 0.1 amps. This will protect you from trouble if there is a bug and a short circuit.
Please see all the photos with diagrams.
Good luck with your projects.

read carefully. you must print this and put it on your wall.

Aziz,
Eric Foster made a true PI with a balanced searchcoil which could discriminate over twenty years ago. The problem is that the reactive component suffers from ground effect. Using filters such as a motion VLF will result in a major reduction of depth over a regular PI. In short it has been done and may well prove to be a method for the future once the problems involved with such designs are solved. The dream is to find a reliable method of making a regular PI discriminate like a VLF using only a mono coil.
----------
Hi Dave, When you say "discriminate", do you mean determining if the target is ferrous or non-ferrous, or are you referring to distinguishing between different kinds of non-ferrous targets, such as zip-tabs and coins?

Allan,
I am talking about a fully variable discrimination control such as the control found on a VLF. Maybe even a notch discriminate control to boot! The detector Eric made was ferrous / non ferrous only but it goes to show you how far ahead he has been for so long. He made that detector over twenty years ago!!!

I wonder what model it was that Eric made ?
