After zeroing, the search depth became worse!?

    Thank you for your helpful answers. Before I would wrap a new coil, I wanted to check my board for errors. I have just checked my board for negative voltages and lo and behold, none there! Where does it come from ? Can this be due to the CD4024BE?

      You had it the other day. Now you don't have it?
      Something funny and weird is going on there.
      As for the coil making question... i guess you are bit confused; one suggests "no alu shield" (nonsense), another suggests "yes alu shield"... quite opposite opinions.
      Whom to believe?
      As i recall: so far i made approx 200 diy coils for TGSL and IGSL. All of them with Alu foil shielding. Self adhesive Alu tape, as shown in pdf that Qiaozhi linked above.
      All of those ~200 coils were balanced pretty well with residual voltage mostly bellow 10mv.
      All of those coils performed excellent.
      So... Alu foil Faraday cage is quite alright. Not harder to balance with it at all. Nor easier. The same.
      Besides... back in a days ('70s, '80s and few years more) most of the manufacturers also used Alu foil to shield their coils too.
      I opened so much original coils by now. So i can tell. I opened many Cscope coils (Cscope was most frequent brand here in the past).
      Than i opened some Garrets, White's and few other major brands.
      None of those hesitate to use Alu foil for shielding. It worked for them than... there is no reason not to work for us today too.
      To claim that is harder and almost impossible to balance such coil; is nothing but total nonsense.
      Quite another question is why they don't use same method today. For one simple reason; technology has evolved and made huge steps forward. Chemistry too. Now days they have affordable and cheap materials to shield their coils easier and more efficiently.
      So why not using modern technology than?
      And of course; special semi conductive materials used in resin mixtures are also having certain advantages against old methods like using Alu foil is.
      For common diyer, the hobbyists; is certainly advisable to use more advanced methods if he can. But in most cases we can not obtain such materials and we are forced to use old school methods as well.
      There is nothing wrong in that.
      Disregard the terrible flood of nonsense that we can occasionally see here and do it the way you can.
      Either way you will do it, if you pay some effort and patience.

          TOO STANDART SITUATION ISSUE FOR THIS CIRCUIT. WITHOUT COIL THE NEGATIVE VOLTAGE IS NOT SUPPLIED - NO GENERATION.
