Probably not, and the answer to your question depends on where you will be hunting and what you expect to find.

What size gold? What ground conditions?

small gold stones, the size varies, the maximum will be 10 mm, the soil is the sand soil, (desert)

Most desert regions where nuggets are found are not sandy, they tend to be very mineralized. But if you think you can find nuggets in desert sand then probably a VLF will work OK and maybe even the TGSL. Good luck.
