  • Coil for TGSL

    Good morning,

I'm finishing a TGSL and i think use à Tesoro coil on it.

I've a concentric coil 10/12 khz (on my silver umax) and another concentric coil 14/18 khz (on my Trident II SI).
    Which coil can i use ? the 14/18 ?

    Thanks.

    Friendly.

Do your coils have a 5-pin or 4-pin connector?

      Hello Qiaozhi,

      For the Trident 2 SI, it's à 4 pin connector (14/18 khz).
For the silver uMax, it's à 5 pin connector (10/12 khz).

      Thanks.

      Friendly.

In that case I think you will have to use the coil with the 5-pin connector. If you have an inductance meter, can you please measure the coil inductances for the 4-pin coil? I expect you will find these are incompatible with the TGSL circuit.

Good morning and thank you for your response.

unfortunately, i don't have inductance meter, so i will try the 2 coils and i will see.
If 2 coils don't work, i will build the TGSL coil ...

Without coil i don't have the -5v on the circuit, but i think it's normal whithout coil. Can you confirm it ?

          Friendly.

            Hello Qiaozhi,

Finaly, the 5 pins coil works well.

            Thanks,

              Excellent news!
Hopefully others will now see how easy it is to make your first TGSL if you use a commercial coil. After that, go for it and construct your own.

                Hello,

Yes, i will buid my own coil, out of curiosity.
But before i have to resolve some little problems.
On air test, no difference with pot of sensibility betwen min or max and i think the discri is always on (no sound on iron !!).

But it's a great experience ... and not the last ...

                Friendly.

                  Hi evrybody!

I would like "just" know: all Tesoro Tejon coil good for TGSL?

Have someone technical information (inductivity, rx, tx size, wire, ...) about the NEL BIG/NEL Tornado Coil for Tesoro Tejon?

                  Thank you!

The Tesoro 4-pin coils (such as the one for the Tejon) are not suitable for the TGSL.
The Tesoro 5-pin coils I've examined all appear to be ok. The TX coil = 5.9mH and the RX coil = 6.5mH. If you're close to these values, then the coil will most likely work.

                      Thank You!

Than the Tejon coils isn't ideal for TGSL!
But I read, the Tejon coils are about 14-18 kHz, and the TGSL is ~14 kHz.

Do you know the Tesoro Cortes have 5 pins?

The transmit frequency cannot used as a guide on its own. It is the inductance values, and the way the coils are balanced, that are important.
The Laser Hawkeye and the Tesoro Cortes and DeLeon all have similar functionality, and I believe they all use the same coils (unless anyone knows otherwise). As far as I'm aware, the TGSL should be able to use coils from Tesoro Cortes, DeLeon, Silver Sabre, Silver uMax, Golden Sabre, Golden uMax, Sidewinder and Bandido. Laser coils from the B1, B2, B3 series, and Rapier and Scout should also be compatible. Basically, there are several to choose from.
