'cause I have a slightly different version of yours I put a photo. my editing step-up amounts to a little more than 130 mA with 3 V input and therefore 12 volts output, and about 100 mA with 4 cell 1.5.
Hi Nico,
I use it with two 9V batteries in parallel but I haven't measured the current yet.
If you want to increase your batteries life, set the output of the converter to 8 volts and remove the 7808 regulator.
You don't need it anymore.
Regards,
Hugo

• ok, for 8 volts but why put two 9-volt batteries are 18 volts? one suffice? and some op-amp is powered by 12 volts.

In parallel means 9 volts, double capacity.

• ah yes ok I did not realize you had mentioned in parallel but some amp are powered by 12 volts, so it should be an output voltage of 12 volts, so you must adjust the step-up converter output 12 volts and not 8 volts for me.

12 Volts is for audio stage. It works fine with 8 volts too.

• Hugo Ok I noticed that the floor was powered by 12 volts, there is also the floor that I framed in red. but if supplies 8 volts while the sound stage will be under powered and floor box too?

Hi Nico,
But what do you call "the floor" !? The parts you've circled in red is the audio stage and the second half of the AOP (Spare).
In the original schematic, the second half of the AOP was used as battery checker.
Now It's wired only to keep it quiet.
In my case, I re-use it with the 2 tones add-on.
I tell you again, it works fine under 8 volts.
Note : Use a big capacitor on the audio output to get a sound strong enough (1000µF).
Send me an PM if you want more explanations in French.

• hello
yesterday i finished my tgsl smd
but guess what - nothing
no negative voltage on all ic where i should get -5v

i watched for good ic 4024 but i think i was a wrong type which was delivered
on all outputs of 4024 i have 12,6V (my supply voltage)

it makes no fun to look for erros

ohhhhhhhhh

Hi Bernte_one,
What is the ref. of your IC ?
Look for MC14024, CD4024 or HEF4024 (power supply up to 15V).
Regards,

• hello hugo

yes thanks i know that i have to look
but i dont read the data sheet shame on me
was a hc4024
i ordere now hef4024 15V
hope it will solve my problems

has somebody tried to use a 32cm diy dd coil for tgsl?

ist it possible to pump more power into the tx stage?

will keep you informed until soon

• hello
i have changed my 4024 ic to a type wchich can handele up to 18V supply voltage
the hc4024 i used before was only for 6V

but i have same problems like before at point where i should have -5v i get +0,7V
the points where i should have 8V i get 8V

i suppose i have to go some more steps back think i have collect the wrong type of transsistors
or something else (the problem must be at the smd components) wrong substitutes or wrong orientation

regards

• What about the orientation of the 4024 ? Red dot is pin 1.

PNP and NPN smd transistors have the same orientation. You can't be wrong.
The 3904 should have a 1A mark on it and the 3906 : 2A

• hello hugo

4024 is ok
but i use this parts
SMBTA 56, PNP Transistor, SMD SOT23, 80V / 500mA,
BC 807-40, PNP Transistor, SMD SOT23, 45V / 500mA,
BC 817-40, NPN Transistor, SMD SOT23, 45V / 500mA,

and i dont have installed a part for the 2n2907 (right a little bit under the 4024) because i have the minelab board connected

p.s. i got some of the new boards from andy - very good design

regards

• Are you working with the new boards ? Or with the one you've etched ?
Is there a swinging signal at the input (Pin 1) of the 4024 coming from the TX stage ?
And at the output (Pin 12) ?
Regards,

at the moment i work on the first version of your design from silverdog
not on mine own etched boards
i also close the gap in the ground over the 4024
but i will do some fotos tomorrow (with sunlight)

maybe i hook up my poscope usbd oszi and make some signal pictures

many thanks for your attention
