  • Stuart 2 PI

Here's some of the items I found one day last week until I was officially ran off. Has good depth and surprising power but like it stated in the description not very descriminating. But then where I look I don't discriminate anyway.
If it sings, I dig. ;-)

      Re: Stuart 2 PI

      Hey Chris,

I used a newly built "Stuart2 Micro-controller PI". Not sure where I found the schematics. Maybe this site? I've looked at everything I could find. My knowledge of electronics is little to none but with all the great help from this site and a couple others, I learned enough to realize that the Stuart 2 has some components that are capable of producing an abundance of power with excellent stability. Surprisingly, after all the years, only one revision, that of a 16F84 and a DS1233.
The description was straight-forward and the design was split up into sections which makes it easy for me to understand the principles and also trouble shoot.
As I said before, I'm not a believer of discrimination. There are too many variables.
And there are some things around here that
quite possibly could appear as trash, ie; civil war relics.
The Stuart 2,along with the DS1233 inception, make it infinitely adjustable.Pulse and timing.
AS for where? Well I'll say this, the next decent ,dark night is where I'll be. The officer made the remark that he had ran someone off twice. Sounded to me like an invitation. (It really does payoff to be nice to people without the expectation of whats in it for me,I find.Or maybe he just felt sorry for someone carrying such an awful looking contraption.)

      After
playing with various coil configurations I may break down and order one of those pretty 10 dollar housings from Hayes to replace the #5 pot plant holder . ;-) Naw, probably not.

            Jason,
I'm new to this forum, and must say it's full of usefull info. I have had a detector in the shed for a few years and am trying to get my son interested (He's . Trouble is, we only seem to be digging junk and the odd coppers on nearby fields. You have shown a brilliant picture of what can be done if you know how and where. Obviously, your'e not going to give away your secret treasure trove, but any suggestions on where to start?. ps, we don't live near the coast. Thanks in advance, Richard.

              Hi Richard,
Greetings and I agree there is a wealth of knowledge available here and also other places on the internet. Some more willing than others to help those less knowledgeable. Maybe they see knowledge as power?
But anyway metal detecting is one great hobby to do with kids. Maybe keep them off the streets.
As for helping you, I'll do whatever I'm capable of. And if you happen to be anywhere near North Cacalacki, or Carolina, I'd be willing to take you sometime. I think I could get as much joy from watching somebody else find something as me.
Where I found that stuff? It wasn't near the beach, I assure you. A state park about 20 miles north of Greensboro. Check a map for more precise co-ordinates. Today I decided to try something different and this is what I found along the shore line of the Yadkin River. Not too far from it's intersection with Route #52.
So, get that thing out of the shed, dust it off, put in fresh batteries and do it. ;-)
              Jason

                        Re: Stuart 2 PI

Hello there. I want to know experiencies with suart2 metal detector. I m working on this project, but not shure if i can use pic16F84 instead of 15C54.
I m alrady program pic16F84 with a hex code that i m not shure if is for pic16C54 or 16F84.
I live in Santiago, Chile, SA. and here there is a lot of places to go for metal detecting.
Hope my project can work with your help
                        In advance many thanks

There any chance i can get the same as you Nelson, i've built a Gary's PI, but i'd like to modified it using a PIC as well.

                          thanks.

                            Re: Stuart 2 PI

Hi, no problem. Also, how was your expirence with Gary's PI metal detector.
Here you can find Stuart2 PI metal detector http://www.thunting.com/cgi-bin/geotech/pages/common/index.pl?page=metdet&file=/projects/stuart1/index.dat. The hex code i think is the same used for PIC16C54. But if you give me your email i ll send you a file that contains suart2 file and the hex for 16F84, it seems that this code was fix to work with it, because if you look the source code it was writen in French.
Hope you can understand my english, because it has been a very long time that i dont have the oportunity to speak it.
Best regards and by the way my email is [email protected]
