Now try this into, genuine Magenta,No go!
    Into Pi84 clone,No go!
    Stuart 11,build very similar,No go.
even a Goldpic Pi with the same Pic micro. No go!
Must be some error! Sorry! Thanks for trying! You have Success!..??
A few others will have a go at this, privately.

Rov, at the moment Iam etching a circuit board for the Stuart2.It will be some time before I can try the software.
I am thinking that the Danish version (mark Pauls) asm. file do need the additional circuit components to utilize the modifiable timings etc. Maybe the software has NO timings as standard,It may require the operator to input timings to make it work?
          Only a thought..
          Cheers

Hi John, which version of the pcb are you etching?either for the stuart 2 or for the later variation Magpi 1. The very earliest had the timing switches for the micro, think was Stuart 1.
the Stuart 2 an Magpi 1 dont have these timing switches, only an on board trimpot an a single pot on the case.
see my attachment for notes an erata,as per a Magpi 1 build as to parts an substitutions an additions.

Hi Rov, The pcb iam about to etch is from an earlier post that shows 4 pcb's on one page. The one I have copied is the magpi with "corrected" printed on it.
Hope it is the correct one!

Ive etched this board also,an loaded components, also the other the Pi84 pcb Ive etched as well. The notes an erata, was essential for correct components.especially several resistors ,an the one under the pcb track side linking pins on the micro.Good luck with your build.

                    No go

Hi ,I have bread boarded this design and the hex files that I have been playing with do not give me any pulse at the pins 6 or 9.
I do not know enough about programming Pics at this stage so I guess I will possibly build another Pi project.
From what I have read about Pics I can see a smaller 12f5xx or 12f6xx can easily produce timings to do the job plus more.!
If I follow the micro path I will have quite a learning curve,to write pic basic code may be I will start at lighting up leds first etc...
                    see how we go.
                    Regards
                    John

Hi John,I have several programmed Magenta Pic Micros, now I would like to offer an exchange if acceptable?one of your programmed pic micros for one of mine.thats if it is 16f84a type, which mine is.
this will give you an oportunity to work thru any errors to your pcb build towards a working unit, with a known working micro.and give me an oportunity to work with an alternative micro for my working pcbs.with your code.this may help us both,an airmail for a picmicro is not much $ to anywhere, almost. What is your location? I am in Australia. Pm.message if your interested.
                      regards Rov

As time allows I will test your chip an report.Cheers!

sorry for a very late reply, yes johns code worked, albit a need for more refinement.I left this code some time ago now with some pic gurus to mod, again with no reply to refinement?
btw. this worked on the 4 picture pcb posted earlier for the PI-84 design pcb.yes this pcb design with the correct components does work.I made 3 pcb in earlier days which worked.altho not terribly good?maybe my poor coil design an winding back then?an out of spec. junk box components.
This is long now discontinued by me.
but if you ever find more to contribute on this ,fine, thanks very much, would still like to hear?
                            regards
