  • Easy selfmade USB PIC Programmer

Is there an easy to build USB Pic Programmer which doesn't need to be written with a hex file before?

I want to build one for small money but i need to write the hexfile to the internal pic to use it.
So it will make no sense. A PickKit3 costs 12 Euro at ebay.

Thank you. The problem is the FT245BL it costs 5-10 Euro.
With the other parts about 15 Euro.

You are probably MUCH better off just buying a PICKit3.
This is fully supported by the Microchip PIC IDE for Flashing, Debugging, and other nice features and any Firmware updates it may need.

I have been using a PICKit2 since it was introduced and really like it.

go to the www.aliexpress.com site and search for PIC KIT 2 or 3. There are about 7 euros,

I have thought it would be fun to build one with an old USB jack and salvaged parts, because i saw a lot of programmers
with only a few transistors and capacitors. But i think they are not for the PIC16F Family.

Pic Kit2 costs about 7-8 Euro at aliexpress. Pic Kit3 is more expensive there.
Best offer i have found was on ebay from Hongkong for 12 Euro.

Maybe i can find somebody who can programm a PIC with the Firmware for me , i want to build this one:
              http://www.sprut.de/electronic/pic/p...ner8/index.htm

              Pic Brenner 8P.

But i dont need it now, i have to finish my Baracudas first.

              Thanks.

Yep, give it a try as it will be a learning experience.

Note: the PICKit2 & I thing also the 3 have there schematics published by MicroChip. So do look for this info on Microchip's web site.

                      Thanks!

From my experience you always pay more when building such common things from scratch, so if it's about the money, buy a knock off from aliexpress. The cheapest I could think of that has USB and is programmable, is an arduino nano. They sell for 1.95$USD on ali express. Buy one of these and write some code to program the PIC with the PicKit firmware. You'll learn a lot, guaranteed.

The cheapest I could find costs less than $1, but you need an old PC with a real serial port (maybe there's one hidden on your motherboard not attached to your case): http://www.franksteinberg.de/5PiP.htm
