  • Hi all,

    nice reactions. *LOL*

But the majik choke doesn't require a gap. And there isn't any magnetic saturation issue as you can use appropriate cores for high power applications (iron powder, larger ring cores).

And what's the function of the majik choke?
It is a frequency dependent "switch".

    Cheers,

      Oh well,

regarding the simulation of all and everything and particularly metal detecting:
Someone made a mistake in the simulation software and it only gives the two digits of the answer: 42
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aboZctrHfK8

That's the wrong answer actually. It must be 4212. *LOL*
My software simulation didn't take 7 million years, it took only 7 years.
      -----------------------------------------------
The "total metal detecting thermo-nuclear melt-down"(c)(r)(tm) is coming..

      Cheers,
      4212 *LOL*

PS: Thanks everybody for wishing me the best.

      • Screwed My PC!!!

        Hi all,

I had an "ultimate PC melt-down"(c)(r)(tm) with heavy smoke generation. My PC is totally kaput and it will take some time to get a new PC. I am posting this from my Netbook.
Let the AEGPF know it please.
        Cheers,
        Aziz
PS: Damn it! I was very close to calculate the mother of all questions. Another 10 million years to go...

        • Aziz, I hope to your PC full recovery soon.

Your message is forwarded to AEGPF.

Hopefully you've not just learnt the importance of backups.

            • Very nice. It's soooo silent now with my Netbook (hello!, anybody out there?). I should buy a green PC with low power consumption this time.

BTW, my ATX power supply section has melted down with smoke generation during watching a movie. I have opened the part and it was full of black dust. Cleaned and connected back: dead. I hope, that the (SATA) hard disks weren't affected.

              Backups? What's that? *LOL*
I'll be online now and then but all the projects will be delayed.

              Cheers,
              Aziz

Hell, thank God for that! I was thinking there for a minute that I'd have to fall back to trying to stir up Davor if you were to disappear!!

                    • Oh yeah!, I have checked my ATX power supply module. It went up in smoke and I have seen some parts being totally damaged and burnt.
I hope I can repair my PC with a brand new power supply module. Well, if other things didn't get screwed of course.

                      Cheers,
                      Aziz

PS: Don't forget to clean your power supply module from time to time. Mine wasn't for a decade or longer.

                      • It happens. Therefore I install TThrotle on my computers, see http://efmer.eu/boinc/
It both monitors temperature, and apply temperature throttling tasks (e.g. a task that does nothing for allotted time, therefore cools a processor) so even in serious dust buildup keeps your processor and a GPU under a target temperature. It also makes sense to limit the temperature at which a computer switches off in Bios - if you have one.

Don't go for green disks, they are hoax, and they are slow.

If possible go for the PSU with the largest and the slowest fan possible. Those are more quiet too, and pick less dust on their blades.

I myself am lurking the PC market lately. There are a few items difficult to come by, say a good passive cooled GPU.

                            Hi Mikebg,

I thought you are making a joke!
But this is the "Ultimate End of Greedlab"(c)(r)(tm). This is the THERMO NUCLEAR MELT-DOWN!!!!

BTW, I had my own PC THERMAL MELT-DOWN. *LOL*
Nice find. I like the technology.
                            Cheers,

                            • Without looking at the nitty gritty that Ground Exper looks awesome, I had always wondered about graphically interpreting the signal by adding coil position tracking and then plotting singnal intensity. It would not be particularly high resolution but would be usefull to miss big thing like cans etc.

I have no access to my Terabyte hard disk yet (I don't know, whether it is even working *LOL*).
I have installed the LTspice IV on my 12 GB Atom Netbook. Now let's see, whether I can work with it and finish the TEM 2.0/Class-E-TEM project.
                                Atom Netbook?
