Good idea. But I don't like violence.
But I like to say, that crime does'nt pay. Which I did in my application with the proof now.

I am off to the post office..

    • Hi all,

it's time to order some more parts for the projects. I will put up an order in the coming days.

The objective is the implementation of the simple PI Resampler project on a very simple PI architecture with mono coil design. I think a 8/16 channel S&H should be enough for this purpose.

      • Hi all,

the new parts should arrive in one or two days (I hope). As you already remarked, I have neglected all the interesting ongoing projects. Well, I have worked on an another interesting project, which seems to be stucking for a while. So I will have time to make some progress on the ongoing projects now.

        Focusing to the ongoing projects:

        IB-PI:
I had to redesign the clock generator. A hardware watch dog timer is necessary to disable the TX signal on absent clock signals (sucks the battery empty and the coil gets very very hot sometimes). Fortunatelly, nothing is built yet (all parts are ready to be built-in). Only my old test board did smoke several times. I will finish the new prototype and make a field test soon. I don't know, whether it's worth to make the device. So I will do it to have an alternate detector at least. But I have to bite into the bullet and have to make an induction balanced coil .

        PI Resampler:
First cut of the circuit design is finished. But I saw bugwhisker has made a similar project. Maybe we can look at his design. Looks quite similar for sampling part.
It seems, that I can reuse the micro controller board (the only part I assume).

        PI Controller:

Depends on the PI Resampler project. Could easily get obsolete, if the PI Resampler works fine.

        Stay tuned..

        • Lot's of work to do now.

          Hi all,

the new parts were just arrived. Sadly, I did not order the CD40106 and CD4093 due to latest changes (IB-PI). I hope, I can get them in the local shop here in Rosenheim.
The IB-PI project will be a high power detector since I have solved some dominating disadvantages (coil heat, IB mismatching, ..). I have a 50 A coil plug for this purpose. It will be a pacemaker stopper! So please, keep some distance to my detector.

The PI Resampler project can also be started now. I have enough good sampling capacitors and multiplexers to test it.

          • Ok,

I got the missing parts CD40106 and CD4093.

It's time to power up my soldering iron now ...

Could take some time so stay tuned...

            • Ultra high speed soldering!!!

              Bzzzzzzzt. Finished!
              Am I quick? The quickmaster?

Just kidding. I was running the boards (see below) for several weeks. I have just changed some chips.
The MCU board is from the PI Controller project.
The power supply board is completely new.
The PI Resampler board is also new and is working fine.

I need now a simple PI switcher (mono coil). This is missing yet.

              • PI Resampler circuit

This is the PI Resampler circuit (overview only). Sadly, the resolution is not big enough to see more details at this moment. But it should show only the architecture of the circuit.

                • Do not burn money!

                  Have a look:
                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnEl7jERu30

This austrian guy is protesting against the perverted Austrain justice. He is burning 21 Million EUR!!!
I should have asked him to support my project.

So if you are going to do a similar action, please let me know!

Hi Aziz, I can made and send you one if you wish. Give me needed inductance.

Better to laundering money than burning it.

I appreciate your kindly offer. This was not the first time.

But this is not necessary, as I have all the parts for the new trivial circuit.
I will build the new board as time allows.
Nevertheless, thank you for your kindly offer.

But I have to decide which project should have a higher priority:
                        - IB-PI power detector final version
                        - PI Resampler
                        - PI Controller
                        - or the secret novel invention, which I am working on it since several month

The first two should not be neglected longer.

                        Aziz

Can you say something about platforms used? Which of your projects are now based on PC/sound card, on micro controller or some other platforms?

                            Sure,

                            almost nothing to hide.

                            IB-PI:
Simple Controller (no MCU) + Sound card + Netbook (Laptop)
It's not the best detector. But it is a cheap and simple one.

                            PI Resampler:
MCU Controller (simple) + Sound card + Netbook (Laptop)
Could be a better detector. I have to test it yet.

                            PI Controller:
MCU Controller (advanced architecture) + Sound card + Netbook (Laptop)
Could be a much better detector. I have to test it yet.

Other (no comments on this besides the following):
Fast floating point DSP with fast ADC system (no sound card, no Netbook)

The first three are quite simple to implement and test. The PC development makes a fast prototyping of algorithms much easier and cheaper (big big plus). This is the reason, why I tend to use the sound card and Netbook as the processing front end.

At the end, a stand-alone DSP system with adequate processing power is the objective. Well, I am waiting for a new DSP starter kit. But I won't give any details on this anymore.

Now let's play with sound cards and Netbook to make better algorithms.

                            • Sorry

                              Sorry guys,

all the projects will be delaying again for a long time.
I am onto a big challenge (invention).

No, there is no hint here on what I am currently working. All the relevant informations were kept total secret.

                              Take care,

                                Good news for you Aziz!

But you probably can say if invention is still in Metal detector domain or you work on something completely different?
