Seems to be convenient and cheap.

I live in Rosenheim. But I'm not the person you mention.
BTW, conrad electronic is quite expensive.

    • Big Meeting Tomorrow

      Hi all,

this is quite off-topic but excuse my happiness and some anger.

My two kids will arrive tomorrow and we are going to have funny holidays for a week. I haven't been able to see them for 7 1/2 years now. A lot of kraut *******s (the kraut judges, the kraut Jugendamt, the kraut Kinderschutzbund, the family of ex-wife) prevented this for a very long time now.

I have been able to see my kids once a year for 2 hours only. Sometimes two times a year. This was always accompanied by the Jugendamt/Kinderschutzbund and I was never alone or longer than 2 hours with my kids.

They have seen me as the master king of bin laden obviously (I'm atheist). I've never been violent, brutal or anything else bad.

      But the krauts did:
      - discriminate me (always)
      - make lots of perversion of justice (always)
      - violate my human rights (most of the time)
      - prevent contact (phone, letter) to my kids
      - prevent to see my kids
      - try to arrest me (several times)
      - try to rip-off me (several times)
      - .......

Can you imagine, that I am never going to work for the *******s anymore?
This is the reason for, why I insist on refusing this.
      Enough bad words..

I am looking forward to have a good time with my kids.

      Cheers,

      Aziz

PS: I am retired now! Old (... hmm, no! ... young ) *** pensioner!

BTW, I have found another solution on internet for discussion (see below).
          File: Leistungsschalter.pdf (page 42 of 69).
Don't know the source anymore (stored on my hard disk).
          Title: Leistungstransistoren, Ansteuerung und Schutz
          Fach: Elektronik 1, SS07

Just google it. Maybe someone can find it.

          • As increasing our energy needs, we ended up with a nuclear bomb and melt all gold together.

              Thanks moodz,

this is a very fine circuit indeed. I have to spice it some day.

              Cheers,

              • Hi all,

my kids (daughter 12 & son 17) and I had a good time together.
                They went home today.

And I am temporary total bankrupt.

This is a good opportunity to try a K.I.S.S.-principle idea because I have everything what I need. A very cheap (controller box) deep seeking power VLF detector with automatic ground balance & discrimination.

Let's blow kilo Volts into the coil now.

                • Hi all,

sadly, it's going to be slightly more expensive.
Bipolar transistor's in the transmitter stage ain't good due to high losses and I have changed them into a mosfet transmitter stage. But the modifications lead to more benefits. These are:
                  - light & cheap design (less components, K.I.S.S.-principle)
                  - PI and high power VLF(!) mode of operation
                  - high power efficiency (less losses)
                  - two n-ch mosfet H-bridge operation (series LC-tank) or single n-ch mosfet operation (parallel LC-tank/LR-tank)
                  - simple power supply (input: 10 - 18V, max. 20V)

In the power VLF mode, one can get with 30V mosfets a coil voltage of 800-2000V depending on the configuration (coil, operating frequency, battery input voltage, etc. ) .

In the PI mode, the mosfet driver is limitted to 600V coil voltage but it's still high enough for our purpose. A high voltage rated mosfet (max. 550V) is necessary for this mode of operation.

The receiver section is a simple two-channel pre-amplifier (using NE5532) with high voltage protection feature.

A low battery voltage detector is also supported.

I hope to fit all the parts into a small control box and PCB. Just transferring the circuit into Eagle program to see, if it is possible.

                  Cheers,
                  Aziz

                  • Damn it!
It's not fitting into my smart and small case & pcb. I have to look for another suitable case.

                    • Hi all,

after looking for a suitable case in the internet, I found a convenient case that attracted me. Then I remembered it and did take a look at my parts stock. I have two of it at home.

Well ok, all parts should fit into the box easily now (EURO-Box 135 x 95 x 45 mm). The PCB size will be half of euro format (100 x 80 mm), which can be produced cheap when taking the attractive two layer euro format PCB offers.

This looks pretty exciting. Tell us as much as you can about the design. Also interested in the layout tools you are using.

                          Hi SB,

I'm using Eagle 5.0.0 currently. It's a so called "trial version" I found somewhere and I am testing it to decide, whether I should buy it or not. (Well, it hasn't any limitations obviously - could be infected with trojans or so).

The design of the control box is very much trivial. It's not worth to talk about it and let's guess & puzzle big players and patent trolls ().

It probably makes the bigger and professional former version obsolete. Always loved the K.I.S.S. principle. Well, I am going to test it soon.

                          Cheers,
                          Aziz

                          • Hi all,

well, I'm using Eagle only to see, whether all parts fit into a board at the moment. And I can optimize the functional parts location.

Well, I'll do a bread board until I know, the circuit is simple and optimal. Then the final PCB will be routed & manufactured of course.

I also might change the design slightly due to performance improvements. Please be patient until I have finished this small project. I will publish this design to make a reference platform for the laptop/netbook experimenters.

                            Cheers,

                            Aziz

                            • Hi all,

it seems, that all the parts are fitting much better into the half euro format PCB. And there is some space for an active analog power supply filter.

I have taken the simplest unipolar inverting pre-amp architecture (AC coupled) and this beast needs very clean power supply and hence the need for the active power supply filter. Well, I have to look, whether this is necessary at all.

                              • Yep!
Active power supply filter makes really sense and it improves the SNR (according to spice simulation: 20 - 30 dB). It only needs 6 additional parts and they can be left unpopulated on the board, if not really necessary. I'll support this feature in case of having more power supply problems (high ripple voltage, noise, etc.).

Well some more improvements are also made to the circuit.
