Any advise on a cheap ICSP that will work well with the VooDoo? I am an Arduino/Teensy person, never used a PIC before.

I use the PICKit2 to program the processor.
You should be able to find one since this was open source.

I still use MPLAB 8.92 (not X) for older PICs.
Or if you get a PICKit2, download and install the PICKit2 utility which allows loading a HEX file then program the PIC.
If you go this way and can not find the install files PM me and I can email them to you.

If you go with the newest MPLAB X then you need at least the PICKit3. PICKit2 not supported.

Your DISC sample appears to be in the wrong place. It should be sampling on the ringing part of the waveform after the flyback.

I took now signal from collector of Q1 and everything is good, delay range is wider.

The simple answer is "not easily". You will need to modify the source code and recompile for the PIC18F20.
Compare the datasheets to understand the differences. It would be much less problem to use the PIC18F4520 as specified.

VOODOO is complete, just playing with coils now. Don't forget to update your PIC to latest version.

Hiya MartinB,,,Hope you're safe and well!,,,,Soz, I'm no good with a paintbrush!,,Lol,,I leave all that side of stuff to my better half Claire! I'm only good at making a mess with sawdust! Glad your Voodoo's coming along,,,I'm still undecided which enclosure to use. The enclosure I use determines the wire length I have to calculate from the PCB up through the handle to the LCD/Buttons. I don't have enough crimps for the 24 wires to do it twice so that's what's stopping me getting any further at the moment. I've also recently finished building a Bandsaw and and a 2x72 Belt grinder so when the next stage of my Voodoo is done I'll be cutting all the parts I need for the various Coil formers I want to build and experiment with. I haven't forgotten about the PIC but I'll re-flash that sometime soon also. Looking forward to seeing your coil results. Regards, Marty.

Hi 6666, Just re-read those posts, yes, left me bewildered, he says he has the parts, the book etc, so really he's in the same boat as the rest of us. Patience is a virtue, even though frustrating,,,,just follow the book, keep an eye on everyone elses progress and ask questions where and when necassary,,,that's my philosophy!
