You could help us by being more specific about what you want/what your problem is. Dog chewed the existing cable up? You want to make your own coil? You think there's a fault in the coil??? This might help: pin1-pin2 = receive coil, 36 Ohm. pin3-pin4 = transmit coil, 2 Ohms. pin5 = shield. Wire colours are: pin3=brown, pin4=black, pin2=clear, pin1=screen of pin2, pin5=screen of pins3,4.

hi and thanks for the information,
a bit of a story but its my brothers detector and somehow he pulled some of the wires from the plug, he has had the wires re-soldered, but the coil will not ground balance now and is acting erratic,
the chap who soldered the wires asked him to take the small stock coil so he could copy the wiring, with the coil now not working as it should, i am presuming the smaller coil wiring is different ?.
thanks again for your help with this.

The small coil is electrically the same as the 11 inch, and I would expect it to have the same cable and hence cable-colours. I suspect inability to ground balance would indicate the shield (pin 5) was not wired up, though it may also indicate a polarity swap, ie. pin3 and pin4 switched over. If you can beep out the connector with a multimeter, that would eliminate a few wiring mix-ups.
