Are you wanting to repair an epoxy-filled coil? Or build one?

Are you sure it is not ABS? I use ABS for sluices and make ABS putty for filling holes that I goofed on. Putty is ABS dissolved in MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). Do not breathe fumes - MEK is very bad for your lungs. The putty is pretty much the same stuff as ABS pipe cement available at hardware/plumbing stores. Just much cheaper.

Most solid coils are filled with epoxy that is lightened with microballoons (small glass spheres). My experience is that you will tear a coil all to pieces trying to get the epoxy out (I use a heat gun), and spend hours doing it. Basically, it's not worth the effort.
