  • my latest concentric windings...

So, my Bandero uMaxII copy seems to work well. Thought I would see just how good I could make a coil.
Spent 3 days with great care....got a 3mV null, but Iam in search of 0mV!(Got this once by changing shape of Tx coil).
Spent even longer. Made test measuements throughout construction.
Good shielding, made sure shell is very light bit stiff - ie will not flex.
    Coils fixed very securely.
    Careful tuning.
Now got 2mV at null point.
    Lessons learned:
    Great care required.
Constant checking because 'conditions' change during build.
Best to have too many turns on the buck coil and then remove some to tune. The more turns the higher the F,
is F goes down the coil is the wrong way round.
I made my jig with no metal parts, then tuned the colis as best as possible incl null.
Melamine covered chipboard has a weird effect upon the waveform - makes it look like a bad digital D-A.
Fitted coils to shell, tuned again.
Moving the Rx/Buck within theTx finds the final best null.
In free air, really good - £2.00 coin at about 8/9 inches.
Still testing, will be out in the fields soon and will report what happens...

Its been p**** with rain for a few days now...did try to ground balance over concrete - not sue it that is viable. Itching to get ito the garden at least! Air tests are really good. I have ordered the same op-amp as Tesoro use for the Rx because the slew on thwe LM358 is crap and it could well affect BG and detection. I will post the reults. I did try an all FET op amp in there and it did not work, which i found odd.
