The cable needs to be supported reasonably well to the shaft.

To save weight I have ran cable up shaft in vertical straght line taped to shaft - this can be more sensitive to falses though from knocks.

If spiral wrapped this tends to be less sensitive to knocks.

Two coaxes work well - like our Aussie brand

Im not a fan of having all four wires inside a common shield - but I geuss is works ok.

Lesson-1: .... wound my debutant DD (TGSL) as per instructions but on similar contraption as in #26 post above ... adjusted the mH on LCR meter (Peak Atlas -- very new and calibrated) in situ.. tied the wraps & glued it ... removed from the contraption ... rechecked the mH again to be sure .... WTF ... it was some 1mH below my adjusted readings, resistance being same in 23R-24R range. Why? I took the readings with those steel hooks in place. I do not know for sure now this pair will be of use in some other boards. Next time I am going to use wooden pins.

Once I used HDMI cable ... Easy to get, cheap to buy, soft a plenty of wire inside with good shields. It was a 8khz coil and it worked.
I don't know the capacity and the impedance, but properly better than VGA cable. !
