Hi Guys...
Never said it was easy to make you own coil... This is my no.3 try, this time a 13" / 25 khz ( Vista Gold ).
Here is some pictures how I did it this time. I gave up Sheilding in the shell and and molded coils into something Moldable Foam, so i could paint the Graphite spray and do the finetune, before the epoxy should close it up.
The good thing is that the total weight will low, because of using foam.

Looks interesting, do you have a preamp in there powered from Tx drive?

I see you got a good low resitance with the carbon/epoxy - is your mix about 60/40 carbon/epoxy?

Do you have a single drain wire in the pot?

Like the mass reduction with the foam.

good effort - like to know how you got on.

The problem with using foam is that the coil is going to want to float when in water. It would be interesting to know performance of this coil.

Hi again .. It didn't ended good guys. Shi...T.
Picture no 3 shows the project ready to close with epoxy. The Nuul was perfect, and it was working really nice in lab. Then it started to go wrong, the Expoy got warm and the foam couldn't like that and it went out of balance. tryed to open it again after it dryed up and then all the nice graphite and the little thin wire connected to the Sheilding broke several places. I found the balance again and tryed to reconnect the shielding, and went out to test it on a field... It was working with low sens., but not good as the 11" Stock coil. Properly the shielding ! No one promised it should be easy

Yes Goldnut... The amplifirer gets power though the hot side from TX.
No is only the foam sprayed with graphite you see look like Carbon.

You are right technos... Hadn't thought about water searching, It would properly Be a problem.

The idea is good, first to make the complete coil in foam. Its easy to work with. The Big problem is to close the Shell when its ready to go, and get some weight allso.

Hopefully my no 4 coil will Be a succes.
