what you want to get from coil? you want do whites dual field one or PERFECT COIL? thinking you want PERFECT COIL primarily. perfect coil is ONLY BASKET COIL, more perfect is SPLITTED basket coil in 2 part - inner and outer windings.
every wire insulated and on their ends soldered together and connected to cable ends.

          In post #9 kt315 said

you can do litz yourself. take 3 or 4 pieces of .3-0.2 mm insulated wire and spin them together.
Try it and see how fast you can sample, if you can sample faster with your home made litz wire, than you can with solid single strand wire then you will have a faster coil.

whats the advantage of your basket coil ????
When you compare a simple bunch wound coil to the basket weave, Certain simple designs of basket weave can reduce the capacitance of a coil. Like in post #16, the text suggests this type of weave makes a faster coil.

i just watched that youtube video about making litz wire...thats so simple and amazing...thank you for sharing that video...if say i use 32 swg wire how many strands should i wind ???? or should i use say 34 swg ????

i just saw that basket coil in the diagram by kt315....wow that is one amazing looking coil but looks very difficult to weave like that !!! not sure if i could wind a coil that good.

Don't waste much time on this, home made Litz-wire etc. Many times discussed here. Larger diameter individual strands will not produce noticeable effect, true Litz is made from 0.032 or less diameter of individual wires, impossible to made manually in 20m length. Basket coils are fine and fast, just shield will completely “kill” them, this type of coil, with low capacitance and dumping R nearly 1Kohm, unshielded is very sensitive to ground (capacitive, not GB) effect, shield will slow it down significantly, no matter how it is applied. No need for teflon insulation, PVC will do the job, difference in E0 is not that important, more mechanical spacing between wires to reduce self-capacitance. Try flat spiral speaker wire design, cheap and fast, easy to made.

i know a person who several years ago made very fine litz wire and he made a coil with this home made litz but he told me that in practise the coil was sensitive to the wet salt on the beach and was useless for detecting...if i buy some 0.2mm pvc stranded wire...how many strands would give a fast coil ???

                        question

ive been offered some pvc equipment wire 0.2mm 16 strand tinned copper...insulation material pvc...is this ok to make a fast coil ????

Coil “speed” is not about number of strands, more about insulation (distance between wires to reduce C, basket shape helps wit this, most insulation is air but shield will screw it up) and amount of metal (coil own eddy decay), 0.2mm is too thin to achieve low enough resistance, below 2R. Stranded wire, if not true Litz (each strand insulated) also wont help much. Some experimenting will, adjusting minimal sampling delay and appropriate Rdump value for given coil is necessary, all gain come from this

you have general area of all wires 16*3,14*0,2^2/4=0,5mm^2. then, for one wire, you have D^2=0,5*4/3,14=... D=0,8mm.
                              its enough.
