  • Help with coil measurements please

Hi, I have obtained a damaged Whites Treasuremaster VLF/Disc metal detector. All the electronic components appear to be the originals and there is no damage to the pcb. However, the search coil is a different story as it has been opened by someone who for some reason or other has had the transmit coil removed. The receive coil is intact and the readings across it is a healthy 35 ohms. Is there anyone who knows what the length of the transmit coil should be for this particular model? Or what can I input to get the measurements with the Coil Calculator??
The diameter of this coil should be 5 and ¾”, according to the dimensions of the groove in the polystyrene bed where the windings laid . (The receive coil is 2 and ¾” it appears to be a 32 wire gauge and has 3 parallel capacitors to link it with the TX coil. The middle tappings that go to the red and black wires has a 0.1uf cap across too )
As there are four connections to be made to the receive coil, I take it the TX coil should also be a double coil? Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi Carl, I really cannot understand for the life of me, why the File Upload Manager does not let me upload any of my pictures. I have been doing this for years and I have never had any trouble with any other forums (including this one before) etc. Is there any issue with your File Upload that you might be aware off? Anyway, this is the blue plastic model from Whites (long control box and handle with intensity red meter at the end) On the side of the casing it only says "Beachcomber" and on the coil casing (6.5" round) white with brown sticker it has "VLF" only. I have got shots of the inside of the coil casing with the RX coil left in it etc so if you know of any other way I can post these pics. to you, I will be happy to do so and thanks for your help.

Your account looks ok, so it should be working.
What error message do you get?

Hi,There is no error message. After clicking Add Files, getting it from the computer (small jpg) then Upload, the round timer thing keeps going on indefinitely but nothing happens. As I said in my previous message to Carl, on the actual File Upload Page I already have four previous pics. files (from sometime ago) so I have used it and worked before. If I drag the file to the page, it just opens a complete separate page with the pic. but this page is unrelated to the Thread page, the latter disappears completely and I have to start from the beginning if I want to go back to the Thread.

Can you try the same thing from another computer?

Just tried on my wife's laptop. Logged in with user name and password and exactly the same thing. Everything is available and working except for the uploading of files. It just doesn't want to know.

Instead of drag-n-drop, try manual mode: click Add Files (upper right), click Basic Uploader, click Browse, select a file. I have had trouble on a different forum with the drag-n-drop method.

Hi Carl, When replying to any of the questions in the thread, the only option available to add a pic. is the "Insert Image" icon above. In the window that opens, you get From Computer or URL. I then go Browse find the file and click "Upload" and you can wait until tomorrow but nothing will be uploaded. Opening a new thread, we have two options: the above mentioned and another one called "Attachments". When this opens, on the top right handside you have Add Files, Browse (I cannot see any Basic Uploader?) and when the file is selected, Upload and you see the little round circle of stars turning round and that's about it. It just does not work. If you have a private email address you could let me have, I could send you the pics.

I thought that so I reduced the image to just a mere 270K. Does not make any difference

SORRY, IS NO GO. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW I REPLY OR WHERE I GO, THE FILE UPLOAD ACCEPTS THE FILE/S AFTER BROWSING BUT IT DOES NOT WANT TO UPLOAD THEM.

Have you tried rebooting your router?
