  • diy coil for vandal pulse 2

Just finished a 37"round coil for a vandal pulse 2. Originally made 15 windings 20awg single magnet wire. connected with about 6' philips pxt1000, no shielding. Won't quit setting off vandal pulse, cannot detune enough. So, took it apart and took 5 windings, now has 10 windings, same result. I also have another 37" rounds coil constructed of 13 windings of 23awg, and it works just fine, will detect 12oz coke can at 36". Working coil is connected with rg58 coax. So can someone help me figure out what the deal is with the 20awg coil, might it need less than 10 or more than 15 windings? Could it be a problem with the philips pxt1000? By the way the resistance in the 10 winding coil is 1.8.
    thanks for any ideas

Never mind, its the resistance, threw a couple of 1ohm resistors on there and it works just fine.
    thanks
