permanent pinpointer

hi all, i built a pinpointer stick, with the intention of fitting it on my p.i., is there any special way it has to be connected?.
what i mean is if i put another coil socket on the case, will a quad pole double throw switch work?, or do they need to be switched electrically with a relay like an antenna switcher?

Probably it will work if you are not trying to sample aggressively early.

thanks carl, this is on my barracuda beach detector (anchor version) lowest setting is 20us.
