I'll relate my on comparisons. I was wanting other input, but here goes what I've found.
Nel 5" coil is heavier than the F75, 5" coil.
The Nel is slightly wider, a true 5" coil.
Air test gives the Nel about 1/4 to 1/2" more on certain target.
But, but, but
I can NOT find an advantage of one over the other.
In ground depth is the same, no difference on my deepest test garden items (7 years and undisturbed in the ground). Neither can give a reliable audio on a small rivet at 7" deep. And both fail the 6 1/2" dime test. I'm guessing the F75 with the small coil is not the best choice for the trash, especially where good targets are over 6" deep.

What If you place a nail or two close to one of you coins at 4-5" depht... !
I wouldn't give so much thoughts in depth, but more what the coil is made for, trashy area. Like make a situation at your testbed were the Big coils can't see a target, but the small can. And then see which one doing best, SEF og Stock coil. And notice ID, how much sens you can use, (chattering), stable GB... and so.
I think a special made testbed would been needed, to compair two small coils.

Very good idea Henrikras. One guy has suggested the iron red clay dirt might be too much for the small coils to cope with since I've only found one small coil that did a half way job. The 6" Excellerator coil for the Etrac did fairly well in my area. But I never tried it in my test garden before selling my Etrac. Kind of wish I'd kept the Etrac, but the weight was just hard on my shoulder.
It all goes to prove that no one machine can do it all. If I can find one that works best in the trash I'll have what I need at this time.
