Hmmm. Old post, but seems to be the appropriate place.
Henrikas, sorry no-one answered you. I buy my .25mm and other from either of the abovementioned suppliers through Ebay. Even with postage it's cheaper than Jaycar in Oz.

Now my reason for posting. I pulled apart an old Sony TV today.
      JACKPOT !!!
450mmx300mmx120 winds each. That's 360 METRES of .6mm enamelled! Man, they didn't skimp on this TV. Previous other models I have salvaged had much less.

Hahaha did the exact same thing today too! It appears it was a bad day if you were old Sony TV! Busted 2 old Sony TVs plus one made in russia, and took the boards for some parts for the junk box and the exact same 2 bundles of wire from the small one i think was 19 inch, they were on the top and the bottom side of the tube, and one big bundle from the 21 inch which was my first TV bought in 94' which had one big bundle all arround the tube.

Yeah I took the wound inductors(?) too. Perhaps they will come in handy for...something. Either as they are or with the spools wound with finer wire.
I've had ITMD for 18 months and finally started reading it yesterday. Might try a "bespoke" BFO detector, using a groovy small wooden tea box (Mlesna Blackcurrant) and some other quirky/wooden parts. The old stuff is interesting to me. Perhaps I will just wrap the components around screws straight into the inside of the box hahahaha.
I am still impressed with the performance of my first radio BFO I made using Talking Electronics circuit 8. I must have jagged the specs just right for that one.
