Well, what can I say ? Two weeks work. Shed loads of wire, I bought resin, a case, all sorts of stuff. I spent DAYS, I made at least ten coils, some brilliant, some not. A cap in my test osc went 'off value' ; it was only slung together with cheap and nasty disc ceramics, I should have known better. But I failed.
None of the coils I made would NULL low enough once placed inside the shielded shell - one worked amazingly until it was put in the case. Glue etc on the windings reall screwed things up. This of course is what happened to me, you may have better luck, Russia might adopt the Euro.
I did find one way to get an excellent coil. There is a place called EBAY....
So I surrunder. I have had enough. I am done. Finito. Fin. Ende.
My homebrew uMaxII works fine with the coil I have since discovered is from a Prinz. That machine looks like a toy at around £50.00 but the coil works really well on my board. I think my time is better spent tweaking that than winding coils.
Now I have to sell big can (1 litre or so, one can resin, one can hardener) of Expoxy resin. £20.00 inlc pp if you're asking - that's what I paid. Its date is last June but it will be fine).
I am very fed up.
I think there is yet more to this than we are being told ? Why won't it NULL (yes by altering turns on the buck coil in situ) in the case ? I am going to bite the bullet and buy a Tesoro coil. I want to see how it compares with the Prinz.
I also have a genuine Tesoro widescan with cover for sale (bought it but no good for umax). It is for things like the Cibola. £55.00 and its yours (incl pp).
