  • Pinpointer coil and switching for Surf Pi Pro

    Hello to all

Can I use switch to choose between two coils,
regular and pinpointing on surf pi pro ?

I want to use it while power is on without shutting detector off.

Can it damage any of circuits ?
What happens in that time ... switch is in neutral or between connections.
Any advice on pinpointer coil and turns ?
Range of few cm not more.

i looked into this and found it may be possible with standard pi delays 20us and above, but lower delays may require dual electrical switching, it turned out be more complex than i wanted for a beach pi.
    so i gave up.

So probably OK for most of our self made Surf Pi's.
Pinpointer is upgrade - less time to waste digging.

you need to switch both connections at the same time + and-,
you cant join -'s together and just switch +'s, i tried a dual switch with on off on, but there was a massive noise spike on the scope on my barracuda while probing the switched lines, that runs about 15us, on the lowest delay setting turning the secondary delay pot up still had this spike so i stripped it off and went back to the bullseye2.

          Hello sdesic,

If you look at this post ( http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...8165#post38165 ) you will find a schematic for the Goldscan. It shows an arrangement for switching between main search coil and a probe.

And instructions for the Goldscan, that describe using the probe can be found here : http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...539#post128539

Hope this helps with your project.
