I got a good idea. My software is the good old 2.0. - Maybee the new software 3.2 will make a different. Update and back to the field later to day.
The problem could Be mineralization and overload the preamp. I will try to explain why this happens.
Gulfnut. 4"-6" depth is fine at those areas and this new coil got that dept.

Mineralisation will NOT cause overload, you are not in Australian Gold Country. Your null is 10mV, lowering the coil to the ground will change this by 0.01mV, maximum.Comment

Okay Skippy.. But something happens, not only with this coil and at that field. The Deus got a mineralization indicator at the display. Ist at the right side. When this is showing 50-60-70 % the Detector goes silence or lose depth. You can hear it in the search, this little chattering disapears. Then I must take a short break and wait 1-2-3 seconds, to this indicator goes down.. At Some fields is it much other not. I seems to that my new small coil is absorbing this miniralization more than the stocks coils. They are doing it allso but not much. I will make a video with a test to show whats happens. But first test with the 3.2 software.
ps. In GB tracking mode, the problem isn't so much, because everytime the Detector adjust the GB value, the miniralization indicator starts from zerro again.
This problem feels like overload, signals goes unclear and lost of depth..
no clue what the excatly course is, but would Very much like to know.

Unfortunately, I am completely unfamiliar with the Deus, and what it's readouts say, and what they really mean. Plus...it (probably) thinks it has a large coil on it, so display values could be in error for this reason.
All these "xxx Percent" this, "yyy phase" that, are just contrived figures, an attempt to display complex figures in a simple way.Comment

You forgot to warn me doing some more test..
... Now I found out the BIG Deus issue. Not good to Deus owners using it in places with hot rock / mineralization like Im doing. Keep the line open, soon I will upload a Utube.

I dont beleive there is a big issue here.
I probably have made A mistake.
I assumed that a Deus would reject ferriote in an Air test.
The deus may need to be near the ground - for it to auto geb - then it would reject ferrite OK perhaps
In lab it cant auto geb, so may not be fair test - if you get me..
Of course I and everyone else will look at your vid

Okay... Remember I said that my feeling was that the miniralization streght goes up (indicator at the display) and I felt it lost some sensitivity. I know this test I just made (utube below) isn't like swinging at the soil, but it tells me that the Deus got a problem, when we got hotrocks and high mineralization or only many Stones with high miniralization. (The same I think).
This test got nothing to do with my small coil, but the next test I made with 2.0 software, I tryed a lot... Allso the small coil. And there came the problem. My new coil need + 2-3 GB to preform like the Stock coil.. So I had made some test yesterday with not the same GB those 3 coils.. That could Be the reason that the new little eliptical didn't gave the advantage like I hoped.
To day I was out with the 3.2 software and the new little coil was sharpe and nice and got good depth. But not in Deus fast, that was to fast program to use with the little coil. GMPower (reaction 2) was perfect.
A lot of testing, trying and thinking.. Hope you can follow.
But BIG problem with hotrocks (Allways a lot of those at my fields, and that problem I can't figure out.)

Hmm, bit lost myself...
I was thinking the machine was disc - ing out the hot rock and masking the coin.. But it isnt, as the rock only did not give a reactivity number like a target and no sound.
The machine said it was ground, with a phase of 88-90 with the bar set high, like lots of mineral.
I would think the small ferrite - which may represent your ground amount better would still ring out with a coin?
I will try on my machines as a correllation point.. I will tune out a ferrite and have a coin at simulated depth further away - SteveComment

More test will Be needed...but I got many lose ends and doing many things at the moment and need to concentrate one thing at the time. Test at the field with some stones close to a goodie, that will tell a lot.
Ps. I made a third hotrock Stone test with my Nokta Detector and that gave a signal swinging a Stone and a coin at the same time, not a perfect signal but MUCH better than the Deus. (Easy that gave no signal).
If the test with hotrock stones will mask out goodies at reel invoirment, it only to dig those Stone like it was Big iron, all depens how good the field are, that not so hard to do, just good to know.
One Very important thing I learn with all this... When a new coil is made, I need to play with hotrocks and ferrite before closing up with resin. Some how I made the little eliptical 2-3 GB off balance and got no clue what the reason is.
