  • White's Coinmaster 1/DB series 2 coil

    Can someone tell me what coil go to White's Coinmaster 1/DB series 2.
    I will have this detector in a few days.
    But coil is missing - it was opened and sent to repair shop but lost.

    I don't have any info on it.

    It is concentric coil - VLF ?
    I was looking for one for a long time for my friend which has one - without coil also.
    There is one or two threads but noting for this detector.

    Is it same as Coinmaster 2 ? Found schematics for it.
    Doc2.pdf

    Any help will be be appreciated.
    Thank you.

      Well I found the manual here;
      https://www.google.com/search?q=Whit...hrome&ie=UTF-8

      And it shows the freq as 6.590 khz .

      Here's a picture of the coil;

      Here's a little tidbit on what coil you might use...

      The 2900/D was introduced about 1985 at a suggested retail price of $179.95. It was a TR/Disc. model with an expanded range to adjust (compensate or balance) for the ground mineralization and provide an all metal operation, or you could reject unwanted trash. It operates at 6.59 kHz and could interchange coils with the other models of that era, which was pre-Blue max era. It was basically replaced in the spring of 1988 by the 2500/D, retailing for $149.95 and offering the same basic functions.

        Can I calculate coil inductance from frequency and it's size ?
        I will post some pictures this weekend.
        Oscillations are dependent on capacitors and inductance.
        Capacitors are not on PCB. Whey were in coil.

            I was looking @ IDX coplaner coil from Don Bowers, it is also working on resonance frequency 6590 Hz.

              If I use TGSL coil will it work ?
              6 mH and capacitor 97nF should resonate close... but what about resistance of coil and RX ...

                Tricky to make the TGSL coil work. The original TX is center tapped and the RX is a strange design.

                It looks like the RX is tuned then rectifed to get DC? I'd imagine it would have poor performance no
                matter what coil you put on there. Better results will be apparent with RX's having lots of windings.
                Any older White's would be a better match for this rig as lots more windings will give a bigger DC level...
