Ok I am creating some medium resolution stl models which I will upload soon for personal use by Geotech members only, just want to do a few updates and mods to some models first so hold tight.

Here is a pic of my latest coil Housing, conventional slim line design for thin enameled wire coil only, clip on skid plate similar to Coiltek coils, minimal plastic, designed to be epoxy filled for maximum strength and water proofing, fast print times, great strength in ABS, narrow design for small nuggets and trashy area picking, hollowed through center with a strengthening bar that stops at the exact center point for accurate pinpointing, ultra light weight, 240mm x 115mm x 12mm thick with skid plate, looks good to, here is a 2 pics, note in these pics the skid plate is not actually clipped on so it's thinner than this when clipped together, skid plate is just sitting below housing at the point where it starts to clip on, I have printed this model in these colors and in ABS and its looks really good so far, print times upper housing 5 hours, skid plate 1hr50mins @ 80mm per minute print speed, 0.2mm Z increments, 0.5 mm nozzle. I am about to put a coil in this, epoxy fill it and then try some beach tests in water.

3D models of shaft components only in medium resolution STL format, uploaded for personal use by geotech forum members only, please do not upload these models to any other sites, please read the readme and my terms and conditions of use before using. I might make some coil models and a Surf PI 1.2 housing available soon as well. This zip file lacks a shaft lock which I am still working on a good design, I used the lock that came with the upper tube which came with an adjustable mop, but its not an ideal solution.
This zip includes elbow support, handle, coil attachment coupling and a tube cap. Holes are to suit 3/16 screws and nuts, 5mm may work but you may have to melt nuts in by heating them up and pushing them in.
Hmm I wanted a direct download link for the zip but it didn't work, still have to figure that one out but its the zip folder labeled Metal Detector Parts in my public One Drive folder here.

The capacity of that MEGA Prusa looks good and its cheap, I was looking at buying a printer from this seller 2 years ago before the Australian dollar dropped and all the printers went up in price, I am surprised this seller has only made about 29 sales since back then, one thing to watch out for is this seller drop ships from India so you could be waiting a long time, his last customer was very unhappy and left bad feedback. DX sell 3D printers to at a reasonable price and might even sell a bigger printer by now, have to check.
Are you from Australia to 6666? I bought my printer from this guy in Ringwood Melbourne, I get ABS and PLA from him at $25-26 a KG if I pick up, and my printer was only $480 which I saved postage on and picked up to, I just sent him an email to see if he is getting in any larger printers, he has no printers on Ebay but last time I spoke to him he was setting up a factory and getting into selling 3D printer gear full time, this is his Ebay shop, you could email him to and ask, he's a nice bloke, he was getting his wife to drop off fulfillment to me as she used to work just down the road from my place.

This is the guys website although he does'nt seem to have any real cheap printers in stock at the moment and they don't all have pecs on them, he will get back to me on some of my other questions soon, he sells parts to which might be handy when I build a bigger printer myself.

Hi Urban, I am about to start my firs PI builds as soon as my kit boards comes in, I was also planning on designing and 3d printing my parts , but seeing how you have the bulk of the grunt work done, would it be possible to get a copy of the files? either source files or stl my print bed is a 200x300 and I was planning on making a longer ellipse coil but if yours work! why not try them. I am also be building the surf pi 1.2 and the barracuda legend, If you can share with me the knowledge you gained I would be more then grateful.

I now feel silly , I didn't read the post all the way thought and now just notice the link you provided with the STL's , So thank you loll, but nevertheless any build knowledge your willing to share will most defiantly be useful.
