  • what are the effects of a coil wired backwards

what i mean is the rx wires if the start and end were reversed what are some telltale signs to check for.

In TGSL if you have double beeps on coin detection, simply swap the RX wires.
    Don't know about other MDs...

Sometimes ground will look like a conductive target, and sometimes big silver looks invisible. Depends on the circuit design.

Pinpoint mode works like normal, but disc mode gives a double-beep. That's a common symptom, anyway.

thanks guys both answers are helpful the detector is like the tgs but it has the double beep for non-ferous. the reason i asked was because when trying to ground balance i couldn't quite get rid of ferrite while still having a non broken up silver response.but after hearing this i think iam good i just need to adjust slower or put a better pot in. btw on tesoro 8.5 concentric decriminator coil 5 pin type which wire is the inverted and which is the non-inverted rx wire? maybe i should have asked that first.

strange thing is my colors are different. Qiaozhi I know what ones are tx and rx I just don't know what rx wire goes to the inverting and what wire goes to the non-inverting side of the op amp. if you know that you'll be my new hero.

                OK - that's easy.

You will note in the diagram that one of the RX wires is connected to the shield by a dotted line. This indicates that this connection is made inside the coil shell. It is that wire which connects to the inverting input of the opamp.

thanks the only thing is my coil has different colors for the wires they are green and white for Rx and red and the screen for Tx but before i took off the old connections i think i wrote the pin number that they were originally. i figured i would try to find a panel mount plug for it but gave up. thats still the answer i needed thank you your the best.
