BBS 1000 coil off sovereign repair

Hi, has anyone ever managed to repair one of these coils ? Mine is giving the correct resistance reading on on side but the other is way too low according to the spec. The problem I was having was loss of sensitivity and depth (pretty badly).

I understand they have a pre-amp built in and wondered if that was the reason for the low reading in being that it either acts to do this or has an internal short.

Any ideas ?

Hi,

About 90% of the time the problem is at the connector. Specially when
used in a hip mount configuration. If you know how to solder you can try
cutting and removing about 2 inches of cable from the connector end and then resoldering
it. If the coil was used for water hunting it could have other internal problems.

My coil reads
PINS 1, 2 1.9ohms
PINS 3, 4 1.12k
