  • canabalised micronta 4003 coil

ive got to the stage in my minipulse build of trying to knock up a rough working coil, ive pulled apart an old micronta coil to maybe use the wire, the thicker wire witch is the outer shelded part of the coil,(recive?) is still on the thin side,at a rough guess 0.2 im hoping somone here knows the exact so i can calculate diamater and no. of turns any help would be appreciated

You can use the Coil Calculator here -> Coil Calculator

Usually 20 - 30 turns gives 300 uh but knowing the diameter would help pin it down.
If you have an inductance meter just remove turns until you get 300 uh (or whatever
      value you are looking for).

It's not going to give the best performance as you need some distance between
windings to keep the capacitance down so Teflon coated wire will work better.

all i have is an antenna analyser from my other hobby, and it gives a reading of 1.8 uh at 18 megaherts and gives no response when rigged up to the minipulse board so in its present state its way out,im not after perfomance at the moment just a simple basic working coil,is ther any mathmaticle convertion i could use to make the antenna annalyser usefull?

Well the best I could do is tell you 66 feet of wire should make a reasonable coil for a PI MD...

ok thanks for all the input, i recon theres enough wire there!
