Does anyone know if any other coil will work or specifications of the coil.

hi koala, dont take this as gospel, but i seem to remember one of those for sale with the original coil and a large dd shaped one and a small (3" mud larker), the other coils were modified tesoro's.
i dont know in what way, it could be coil plug or caps, but it may point you in the right direction.

Not really the person it was for decided to buy a new detector on a credit card because they had no money so never got to see it.

Pity as I like the old school analog detectors. Had a basic Golden Mask 1+ on the bench recently. Very impressed with it's depth on a Henry V cut half for such a small 7" coil. Discrimination was spot on.

ok thats a shame, you should make him an offer, if its no good as is he may take cold hard cash, especially since he has a nice new detector.
yes i like the older analogue stuff too, i got a complete non working fisher 1266x, i more or less rebuilt the second board but it wont run, so i have lightened it (replaced shaft for light modern tube, and changed the arm cuff to plastic), with my tweaks its half the weight.
i'm putting the mini pulse in it, it fits perfectly its almost as if George intended it that way, in one way its a shame i always wanted a 1266, but it would have been too heavy for my style of detecting, since its dead the mini pulse in this lightened box and shaft will be much better.
