  • spacer between coil and shield?

    If you wind your coil using insulated wire, why is their a need for a space between the coil and the shield? Or, can you wrap the shield material directly over the insulated wire with no ill effects? Thanks

    My understanding is that the more space between coil and shield means lower capacitance and a faster coil.

      Look at Post 64 on this link.
      It shows the difference in Capacitance with the shield Almost directly on the coil.

      I would Recommed at Least a 1.2 Inch Distance between coil and shield..
