How it would be to create a 66cm coil where are 2 small powerful 35 cm coils on its ends?

The whole coil works still with DD indcution balance because the coils overlap in the middle.

This way the EMI could be held pretty low while the EM-field still would be spread alot and going deep.

This coil would be very flat eliptical - not much broader than 30cm in the middle.

The DD would not be left-right but up-down orientated which is not that perfect for
sweep-scanning over the ground but for super depth and high sensitive detection at
the center region it would be still work very good.

Some more extreme version would be with round 20cm coils at the front and back.
Here the DD effect is missing and its more like a sweepable lightweight 2box coil
but what counts for depth in this case also is the large distance between TX and RX coil.
It would work especially good because the coil can be swept directly over the ground.
And it can be created very lightweight.

Whats important to remove the EMI of course is that the TX - RX combination is
powerful enough so the TX coil can reach alot depth while the RX is not too sensitive
so it will pick up mainly the TX signals and no e-smog.

Personally I would prefer the DD solution because in that case such coil will
be also very sensitive at its center region for small stuff while the used 35cm coils
are still much smaller than very long and narrow 66cm coils.

      hello
      http://www.foerstergroup.de/MINEX-4-...7573ab0.0.html
foerster use two rx coil and one tx coil in those seachheads
so they can works on two different frequencies at the same time
what do you think about this (just a Little bit bigger and wih oval shape for better Separation)

Someone who did a lot of experiments with building large DD's for his vlf, was Charles (UpstateNY). Smart man. Wonder where he is now ?

One post maybe of interest, even to P.I coil builders.
