3DSS (3Dimensional winding pattern - Self Shielding) Coil AKA Chance PI coil

The 3DSS coil as detailed in the Chance PI Coil thread is the best mono coil I have built and has better sensitivity to small gold than the traditional shielded coils I have built. Many pictures and construction details for both round and oval coils are posted in the Chance PI Coil thread. A few photos are attached below.

    Regards,

    Dan

I estimate that your TX coil has about 100uH inductance. Is that correct?

You need to use an inductance meter to measure the actual inductance. However, you can calculate the value (as I did, to get 100uH) using the Coil Calculator -> Coil Calculator
Your coil is 10" diameter, which is 127mm radius. I can see from the photos the wire is enamelled copper, so I assumed a wire thickness of 0.56mm.

Your multimeter doesn't have an inductance measurement capability.

also lithium grease in the knob and a o ring in pot shaft seals under water . works well
