I have a coil my friend gave me and the wire was very brittle and i'm going to splice into them and fix the coil but don't know if the coil is worth it, I put an Ohm meter on it and it has four wires, a red, black, yellow and white, well I tested the red and black and got like a 1.7 to 1.9 on the ohm meter and nothing on the other wires is this OK or is it shot, any help would be appreciated thank you. What detector is it for.
As a general rule VLF have two pairs with low resistance for the RX an TX windings plus a shield which maybe connected to one end of the TX or RX both or neither
Pulse detectors normal have a pair with low resistance for a combined TX and RX winding. Plus a shield which may or may not be connected to one side of the coil.
