One of my up-coming PI experiments will be bottom-shielding with paper coloured with HB pencil, with a blob of 50/50 wood glue/powdered graphite to attach the wire..(???)
    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Could you elaborate on the type of nickel paint? Here in the States we have nickel paint from companies like Rust-oleum, Velspar etc. Will these work? Also you mentioned spraying your coil with Nickel. After winding a coil, (I use Teflon coated, braided 30 ga) just spray it with nickel paint and leave a 2 to 3mm gap? or just spray the whole coil.

I'm assuming this will definitely work.

I am going to attempt to make a few DD coils for the TGSL,IDX and Lobo, Do I shield both the TX and RX or do I leave one un shielded ?

Shield both and isolate them then. Connect only in one place to prevent any loops.
