  • Lits wire advice needed

I just got some 660/46 Litz wire and was wondering for a 5" coil how many turns needed for a surf pi

There is a coil calculator at the top of the forum you can use to figure your coil inductance. 660/46 is some heavy stuff. There is a thread in this "coil" forum that has a list of the best litz wires to use.

The recommended wire size for best performance in the range for the diy detectors is 250/46 or 175/46. Not sure what affect the heavier 660/46 wire will have.

Using the coil calc, just enter the inner radius (2.5 in) converted to mm and the wire size in mm.
