  • Can coils be modified to work with another detector?

I have an old Wilson Relic & Coin detector from the early 1990's with the stock 7.5 inch coil. I believe the frequency of the detector is close to what White's used back in the 90's as well...the mid 6 KHZ range.

My question is, can my old 11' White's coil be modified or tuned somehow to work with the Wilson? I have tried to connect it to the Wilson and it registers a hit periodically but you can tell something is definitely off.

sometimes i think to plan to make a generator for coils checking on resonance... also to add a tester for all kind of opamps...
but will be this board interested for people?... big question.
old coil design was simplest. no capacitors inside. if you mean whites 6,59kHz coil... it has a capacitors on TX side.

I could post pictures of PCB of mine but all the chips are sanded down so they cannot be read.
