  • Discovery Baron Coils for PI

I came across some old Discovery Baron Coils to play with. One was opened so nothing to loose I dissected it. I now have another coil for one of my Project DIY Pi's . The Tx coil made with 22 AWG measured come to .7 Ohms @ 310uH. Right on the Money for your basic PI Detector. Why Discovery used this set up as a Tx coil on a VLF is a conundrum to me at this point. They must have been putting out a considerably strong field for a VLF.

All I need to do is Re apply some Conductive Graphite shielding , foam things, Some nice white Rattle Can Vinyl Paint the original enclosure and DONE. Cool one more for the Toy Box.

could you measure the resistor/square of the shielding sheet ?

no special reason if there is not measured resistor. main rule that you do not want to note... your mind on ground
      and disconnected.

in moment of discharge of static field high voltage/potencial charge some graphite granules must be unite by microbreakdowns in
some kinda chain of closed connection. do you see here the resistor measured by tester's low voltage?
thats mean GOOD shielding de facto we call of.

There is No Sheet. It was just sprayed. Measuring various distances it seems to be about 700 Ohms per inch.

Had to look up what the Discovery Baron was

Seem if it had the optional boost module it was very good ?

Did you get the rest of it or just the coil

                Cool. Petty there not complete

Saw a video awhile back. One with the deep module 15" on a large copper coin. Can't find it again.

Looks like a couple of people on here have owned one http://www.findmall.com/read.php?56,2305582,page=1

I know it has been a few years but do you still have any of those Discovery Baron coils? If so would you like to get rid of them? I have been impatiently waiting for some to available. Sorry to bother you about them years later just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Have a great day.
