  • Best Coil Cable

Which is the best cable between the coil and the MD.

I need one for my TGSL EDU and one for my Baracuda.

I have heard that i can use Coax cables but i think they are too stiff.
I have used a Fire alarm cable before but it was too stiff.

Andy from Silverdog suggested me to use a van damme microphone cable but i cant find one in my country.

Can i use this one instead: https://www.reichelt.de/Mikrofon-Vid...5&SEARCH=%252A

Has 4 cores and every one of the 4 cables is shielded and the shields are connected together.

    I need a flexible cable.

    Thanks in advance!

Check with your local Computer repair guy. He probably has lots of old stuff with cables on them that can be salvaged.

USB cables, Old mouse cables, etc can be used.

      EBay

van damme microphone cable 4 core is the way to go. Worth the wait.

      1 its tough
      2 its flexible
3 no false signals when bashed.

I have tried USB2 cable. More trouble than its worth. Though your mileage might be different.

what length you need and a price to give up?

              cannot find a black one

use a heat shrink tubing of a color you like.

I need to wait until my shaft arrives.

Price was about 8 euro at ebay, a year ago.
But i wasnt sure about the shielding from the van damme.

I can't believe Van Damme XKE STARQUAD is not available anywhere online in Germany. It used everywhere recording studios. Stage and live music shows. £1.50 per metre here in the UK. They will ship to Germany but you would be better using your local eBay/amazon with postage rates.

I found this offer from UK : https://www.ebay.de/itm/Van-Damme-XK...kcUP8pJ9jRK6XA

Very cheap 2,50 per meter. But this has a diameter of 6mm sounds very thick. I have seen a normal one with only 4,8 or 5 mm.

Do you think the GX16 connectors from china will fit? I think i will order from UK.

Edit: I found two different XKE Star Quad. One is the Star Quad miniature. I hope the 6mm one wil fit.

                            6mm is what I use.

Works 100% never had it fail. Its almost as if it was built for the job. Been out in freezing weather. Sharp rocks and salt water. Last thing you need is a cable fail after its all epoxied up. I know. I had to start a coil again after using an old USB2 cable. It was just too sensitive to being bashed about. You could tap your finger against it and it would false.

Perfect thank you for the pictures. Now i only need to find a strain relief in germany and i have everything for my new coil.
I think i will use the 2 core van damme for the barracuda. I have a Gx16-3 Pin connector for the pi.
