  • IDX coil .

Good evening, everyone, I wanted to ask the Forum gurus, you can reduce the inductance of self-built coils, then adjusting the frequency with a capacitor. For example, the IDX DD Coil receiving 35.5 MH, reducing it to 5.85 MH with a 200 nf capacitor, same frequency but saving copper wire and weight.
    Is it possible?

cap on RX side is set only for RF noise reduction. much geotechers are calculating a 'resonance' of the L+C and given that like important issue. there are always the noisemakers.

Hello, I have an IDX that works well with 1mh tx coil, rx 10mh

Hi Emiliano, the coil you used was made by you or you used a coil of another metal detector.

factory. The capacitors as shown are out of the coil

Hello good evening I need some more information on the question made for the coil for IDX Pro. Thank you all.

KT, could you please direct me towards more about this explanation of RF noise reduction. I always thought that Rx resonance with C amounted to "tuning" in the same way as tuning a radio receiver to a narrow frequency band.

you can delete the cap from RX and will not see difference. you have to notice 'some more unstability' and all.
the RF noise reduction cap using in preamplifier and amplifier in much schematics. this is ordinary practic
to reduction of aside unwanted noise in amplifiers with high gain, to prevent excitation.

that we have in a coil - L, the coil, resistor in serial 24-56 Ohm, then the cap, cap inside the coil or cap
on a pcb. its simple RC filter. filter for what? filter for the RF noise reduction.

For the IDX pro ( the red board) can I get away with a 4 pin connector like the TGSL, by connect ground too and shielding to the TX ,or do I need a 5 Pin connector ?
